Two pathways

Trees, but underwater.

Kelp forests grow faster than terrestrial forests, sequester carbon directly into sediment, and provide habitat for the entire near-shore food web. The Pacific Northwest has lost 60% of its kelp in three decades. We're a small part of putting it back.

Marine restoration.

Bull kelp and giant kelp transplants attached to substrate using sea-anchor management. 1,850 hectares of degraded reef under active restoration, with 285k transplants placed in Pilot Year 1. Year-on-year survival monitoring with underwater photogrammetry.

Wildlife corridors.

Kelp forests are the nursery habitat for sea otters, herring, juvenile salmon, rockfish — the entire near-shore food web. 450+ marine species recorded at restored sites, against 60 at adjacent control sites. Marine biodiversity recovery is the headline outcome.
